Spelling dictation
A dictation trains the ear and the spelling at once. Here you hear the word or sentence as often as you need, at a pace made for writing, and it is compared with how it is really spelt.
What you practise
- Single words, inside a short sentence so they are understood, and whole sentences split into parts.
- A help with boxes, one per letter, for those who need it at the start.
- What is checked depends on age: the accent, the capital at the start or the full stop. What is not yet taught does not count as a mistake.
- When it is checked, the right spelling is shown and the letter that failed is pointed out.
How it adapts
The words come from age and how much help is needed, from the most direct to those with accents, a silent h or tricky letters. There is a keyboard of its own, in alphabetical order, that neither corrects nor suggests the word.
With the full plan
Dictation is part of the full plan: the word is not shown, it is heard, and that needs the voice.
Frequently asked questions

- What is checked?
- What is expected for the age: the accent, the capital at the start or the full stop. What is not yet taught does not count as a mistake.
- Is it in the full plan?
- Yes: the word is not shown, it is heard, and that needs the voice. The rest of Writing can be tried free.

Not loading on match days?
During football matches, some internet providers in Spain block addresses that a huge number of websites share, and that can lock you out of OXI Kids for a while. It is not a fault with your phone or the app, and nothing you have done is lost. Try another DNS (on Android: Settings → Private DNS → one.one.one.one), a VPN or the 1.1.1.1 app, or come back when the match is over.
