Reading by syllables
Those who are starting to read lean on syllables. Here the text is highlighted syllable by syllable, or word by word, at the pace that suits the age, and it can be changed whenever needed.
What you practise
- Short texts for each age, from 5 to 18, with three difficulties each.
- The highlight moves on by itself, and you can stop, go back or tap a syllable to jump to it.
- Comprehension questions with options while reading.
- A pause at commas and full stops, as when reading aloud.
How it adapts
Under 7, the highlight goes by syllables; after that, by words. The pace comes from age and how hard reading is, and is changed with a slider. Nothing is counted against the child.
Frequently asked questions

- Yes: while reading, a comprehension question with options now and then appears. If there is none, you keep reading.

Not loading on match days?
During football matches, some internet providers in Spain block addresses that a huge number of websites share, and that can lock you out of OXI Kids for a while. It is not a fault with your phone or the app, and nothing you have done is lost. Try another DNS (on Android: Settings → Private DNS → one.one.one.one), a VPN or the 1.1.1.1 app, or come back when the match is over.
